PM Modi to visit Tamil Nadu on July 27–28 to attend Rajendra Chola I anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu on the 27th and 28th of this month. The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the 1000th anniversary of the Gangetic conquest of  King Rajendra Chola 1 on the 27th at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Ariyalur district. The Tamil Nadu Government is celebrating its birth anniversary from 23rd July. The event is organised at the Brihadishwara temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Prime Minister is also likely to release a coin to commemorate the occasion. A photo exhibition is also organised by the ASI on the expedition of King Rajendra Chola 1s Gangetic expedition and Kadaram expedition, miniature sculptures related to Shaivism and the Chola era. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the upgraded and modernised airport at Thoothukudi on the 28th of this month. The airport, built in 1992, has been modernised and expanded for Rs. 381 Crore. The runway, which was 1350 metres, has been expanded to 3000 metres, enabling a parking bay of five aeroplanes at one time.
