Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Assam beginning tomorrow, during which he is scheduled to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects across the state.
The Prime Minister will reach Kokrajhar in the afternoon, where he will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of several projects. The PM will lay the foundation stones of a railway coach repairing factory and six bridges and launch three new railway services in the Bodo Territorial Region. The PM will also address a public meeting on the occasion.
Later in the evening, the Prime Minister will travel to Guwahati, where he will participate in multiple programmes. At Guwahati, the PM will symbolically hand over land pattas to eligible tea garden workers of the state. The Prime Minister will dedicate the 150 MW Kopili Hydropower Project.
In addition, development projects worth around 10,000 crore rupees will also be inaugurated and dedicated from Guwahati. During the programme, the PM will transfer over 18,640 crore rupees directly to the bank accounts of over 9 crore 32 lakh farmers under the 22nd instalment of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi at 5 PM. The PM will also address a public meeting in the city. The Prime Minister will stay overnight at the State Guest House in Guwahati.
On March 14, the Prime Minister will travel to Silchar, where he is scheduled to lay the foundation stones for three major projects and inaugurate a key railway initiative, with a combined project cost of 24,205 crore rupees. The PM will lay the foundation stone of the 22,000-crore rupees Silchar-Guwahati expressway-the first of its kind in the entire Northeast. The 166-km corridor will reduce travel time between Silchar and Guwahati to just 4.5 hours from the existing 8 hours.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone for a 563-crore flyover within Silchar city and a 122-crore rupees Agriculture College in Patharkandi. In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate an electric rail connectivity project of 655 crore rupees between Silchar and Churaibari via Badarpur. The Prime Minister will address public meetings at Silchar. Following the programmes in Silchar, the Prime Minister will leave for Kolkata, concluding his two-day tour of Assam.
