PM Modi to Inaugurate Navi Mumbai International Airport Tomorrow

 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Maharashtra, starting tomorrow. During his visit, Mr Modi will inaugurate the first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport, built at a cost of around 19 thousand 650 crore rupees. This airport is the country’s largest Greenfield airport project. As the second international airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Navi Mumbai International Airport will work in tandem with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to ease congestion and elevate Mumbai into the league of global multi-airport systems. The airport is designed to handle 90 million passengers annually and more than three million metric tonnes of cargo. 
 
 
During the visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate Phase 2B of the Mumbai Metro Line-3, constructed at an estimated cost of around 12 thousand 200 crore rupees. With this, he will dedicate the entire Mumbai Metro Line 3 to the nation with a total cost of over 37 thousand 270 crore rupees, marking a major milestone in the city’s urban transport transformation. The Metro Line-3 has been designed to ensure efficient integration with other modes of transport, including railways, airports, other metro lines, and monorail services.
 
 
Mr Modi will launch Mumbai One-India’s First Integrated Common Mobility App for 11 Public transport Operators. The app offers commuters a range of benefits, including integrated mobile ticketing across multiple Public Transport Operators and seamless multi-modal connectivity. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Short-Term Employability Program, a pioneering initiative by the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation in Maharashtra. The program will be rolled out across 400 Government ITIs and 150 Government Technical High Schools, marking a major step in aligning skill development with industry requirements to enhance employability.
 
 
On 9th October, Mr Modi will host the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, in Mumbai. Mr Modi and Mr Starmer will review the progress made across various areas of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in diverse aspects of the ‘Vision 2035. This partnership outlines a focused and time-bound 10-year roadmap encompassing key pillars such as trade and investment, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate and energy, health, education, and people-to-people relations. Both leaders are expected to interact with business and industry representatives to explore opportunities under the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, which serves as a central pillar of the future India-UK economic partnership. They will also exchange views on issues of regional and global importance.
