PM Modi talks with leaders from Oman, Jordan, France, and Malaysia on urgent need for de-escalating conflict in West Asia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said that India and Oman have agreed to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy for de-escalation and restoration of peace and stability in the region.

He reiterated that country’s strong condemnation of the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Mr Modi also appreciated Oman’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a telephonic conversation with the King of Jordan Abdullah II and conveyed advance Eid and discussed the evolving security situation in the gulf region.

Both leaders expressed concern at the evolving situation in West Asia and highlighted the need for dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister remarked that attacks on energy infrastructure in West Asia are condemnable and can lead to avoidable escalation. Mr Modi affirmed that India and Jordan stand in support of unhindered transit of goods and energy. Prime Minister Modi further expressed deep appreciation for Jordan’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of Indians stranded in the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

In a social media post, the Prime Minister said that during the conversation, he discussed the situation in West Asia, emphasizing the urgent need for de-escalation. He added that both leaders look forward to continuing coordination to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The Prime Minister also held a conversation with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim and extended his greetings to him on the occasion of the upcoming festival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. During the conversation, both leaders discussed the deeply concerning situation in West Asia and reaffirmed their shared commitment to de-escalation and the early restoration of peace and stability.
