PM Modi Stresses Peace as Key to Manipur’s Development; Urges All Groups to Embrace Harmony for a Better Future

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all organisations in Manipur to embark on the path of peace to fulfil their dreams and secure the future of their children. He said the government is satisfied that, in recent times, talks have been held with various groups in the hills and the valley to reach agreements. He reaffirmed that the Government of India stands firmly with the people of Manipur. The Prime Minister added that this is part of the Government of India’s broader efforts to establish peace by prioritising dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding. The Prime Minister said this while laying the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹7,300 crore in Churachandpur, Manipur.
 
 
The 19 projects include Manipur Urban Roads, a drainage and asset management improvement project, five National Highway projects, the Manipur Infotech Development project, and Working Women Hostels at nine locations, among others.
 
 
Addressing the gathering, Mr Modi said, the Projects unveiled today will improve people’s lives in Manipur, in terms of infrastructure and healthcare. He said, the land of Manipur is the land of courage and bravery. Mr Modi added that Manipur is a vital pillar of India’s progress. 
 
 
The Prime Minister highlighted that since 2014, the government has laid emphasis on improving connectivity in the region. He said the central government has increased the budget for rail and road. Apart from this, the government also worked towards providing road access to villages. The Prime Minister highlighted that in the past few years, the government spent three thousand 700 crore rupees on the National Highways. He said the  Government of India has been trying to take Manipur forward in the path of development. He praised the people of Manipur for their courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit. He expressed deep appreciation for the citizens who gathered in large numbers despite heavy rainfall.
