PM Modi reiterates development of every district & region of Assam remains top priority for his party & its alliance

Senior BJP Leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reiterated that the development of every district and region of Assam remains a top priority for his party and its alliance, the National Democratic Alliance. Mr Modi stated this while addressing a poll rally at Hojai in Assam this afternoon. Mr Modi alleged that Assam was deprived of development during the Congress tenure and that the party worked primarily for its own interests. He said that when the BJP assumed office, the state’s infrastructure and overall conditions were in a poor state. Highlighting progress in the power sector, Mr Modi said Assam, which once depended on other states for electricity, has now emerged as a model in power generation. He noted that the availability of electricity accelerates industrial growth, attracts fresh investment, and leads to the establishment of new industries, resulting in the creation of employment opportunities for the youth.

Referring to the upcoming semiconductor facility in Morigaon, Mr Modi said chip production at the unit will open avenues for multiple industries, ranging from electronics to electric vehicles. He added that the ongoing industrial expansion in Assam is paving the way for sustained economic growth and increased employment opportunities across the state.

Earlier in the day, addressing a rally at Barpeta, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that the BJP will form a government in Assam for a third consecutive term. He said the party’s resolve is to make the country developed and self-reliant. He said that the past ten years have been marked by peace and prosperity in Assam. He described it as a decade that helped the state move away from challenges of inconvenience and insecurity. He said that the coming years will further expand Assam’s prosperity and strengthen its journey towards self-reliance.

Highlighting infrastructure growth in Assam, the Prime Minister said improved connectivity in the state is positively impacting the tourism sector, benefiting the overall economy. Mr Modi alleged that the Congress has never worked with a long-term vision for development and instead focused on short-term measures for political gains. He said the BJP is working with a long-term roadmap to achieve the goal of a Viksit Assam as part of a Viksit Bharat. Mr Modi is scheduled to one more election rally  at Dibrugarh.
