Also known as Flower Lady of Manipur- Chokhone Krichena name shined in today’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode when Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded her for leveraging traditional knowledge with modern vision and making floriculture a major vehicle for economic progress in the Senapati district of Manipur. 

 

In 2021, Chokhone Krichena launched Dianthe Private Limited, a floriculture company specialising in the cultivation and marketing of decorative flowers, leaving behind her family’s traditional farming in the hill ranges. She collaborated with women farmers of the Senapati district, and today her decorative flowers reached different States of India.

 

The Prime Minister appreciated her ability to expand traditional experience to a greater extent, which empowers local communities in her areas. 

 

Speaking to Akashvani News, she said that her team is happy to know on believing their story for self-reliance, inclusive development and grassroots initiative and mentioning the story in ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
