Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respectful tributes to eminent thinker and educationist Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary today.
In a social media post, Mr Modi said Dr. Mukherjee had sacrificed his life to protect the honor, dignity, and pride of the country.
He added that Dr. Mukherjee’s ideals and principles are invaluable in the construction of a developed and self-reliant India.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister and BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, and other leaders paid floral tributes to Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 125th birth anniversary at the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan.
Railways and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, MPs Manoj Tiwari, and Bansuri Swaraj also offered tributes at Dr. Mookerjee’s statue in Shaheedi Park, New Delhi.
Mr. Vaishnaw lauded Dr. Mookerjee’s contribution in advocating the importance of Indian languages. He said that with the introduction of New Education Policy, the government has realized Dr. Mookerjee’s vision for the preservation, promotion, and development of Indian languages. He added that the struggle led by Dr. Mookerjee was fulfilled in 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated from the Indian Constitution.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recalled Dr. Mookerjee’s message of the country being above party politics. Remembering his stance on Kashmir, she highlighting that the construction of new Chenab Bridge is a step toward realizing Dr. Mookerjee’s vision.
