On the second day of his Gujarat visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the grand ‘Shaurya Yatra,’ at Prabhas Patan organsied as part of the historic Somnath Swabhiman Parv. The Yatra was a ceremonial procession of 108 horses organized to honor the countless warriors who defended the Somnath Temple over centuries.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also joined PM during the Yatra. Thousands of devotees from across the country took part in the procession.

PM paid tributes to the countless warriors who laid down their lives defending the Somnath Temple. Currently the, PM is performing pooja and offering prayers at Somnath Mahadev.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister noted that 2026 marks seventy-five years since the present Somnath Temple was reopened to devotees on 11 May 1951 after Independence. Together, these milestones form the basis of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv. The observance is envisioned not as a recollection of destruction, but as a tribute to a thousand-year journey of resilience, faith, and civilisational self-respect. Though Somnath and Indian civilisation were repeatedly targeted over centuries, neither was destroyed-both endured and prevailed.
