Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term.
Addressing an election rally at Barpeta in Assam, Mr. Modi said the party’s resolve is to make the country developed and self-reliant. He said that the past ten years have been marked by peace and prosperity in Assam. He described it as a decade that helped the state move away from challenges of inconvenience and insecurity. He said that the coming years will further expand Assam’s prosperity and strengthen its journey towards self-reliance.
Highlighting infrastructure growth in Assam, the Prime Minister said improved connectivity in the state is positively impacting the tourism sector, benefiting the overall economy. Mr. Modi alleged that the Congress has never worked with a long-term vision for development, and instead focused on short-term measures for political gains. He said, BJP is working with a long-term roadmap to achieve the goal of a Viksit Assam as part of a Viksit Bharat. Mr. Modi is scheduled to address two more election rallies in the state later today.
