Raising allegations of unrest, corruption, and appeasement against the Trinamool Congress government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought the support of the people of West Bengal in the upcoming assembly election.
In an open letter to the people of the state ahead of the assembly polls, he not only presented an account of the central government’s various projects and achievements over the past 11 years but also offered his respects to the people of Bengal, writing that the time has come to decide the path for the future of the next generation. Emphasising that public welfare and holistic development have been prioritised over the past decade, he said that the central government has consistently worked across all areas, from farmers’ welfare to youth empowerment.
The letter mentions several central schemes, such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Swachh Bharat. He said that millions of families have gained access to banking services and gas connections, and healthcare has become more accessible. Employment generation, infrastructure development, and increased industrial investment were also highlighted.
Referring to misgovernance in West Bengal, the Prime Minister alleged that political instability, corruption, and violence have long hindered the state’s progress. He stressed the need for a “double-engine government” to ensure that the benefits of central schemes fully reach the common people of the state. The letter also touched upon the Citizenship Amendment Act and border security issues.
