PM GatiShakti Panel Evaluates Five Major Infrastructure Projects to Boost Multimodal Connectivity

The 100th meeting of the Network Planning Group, under PM GatiShakti was held today to review infrastructure projects of Road, Transport and Highways. The meeting focused on enhancing multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency in alignment with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. During the meeting, five projects including two rail, two highways and one Metro Rail Project evaluated for alignment with integrated multimodal infrastructure and socio-economic benefits.
In the meeting, officials highlighted that the quadrupling of the Hosapete-Ballari railway line in Karnataka and the doubling of the Gondia-Jabalpur line across Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will improve freight movement and decongest key corridors. Road projects, including the widening of the Mahwa-Mandawar section in Rajasthan and the construction of a six-lane elevated road between Anisabad and Deedargunj in Bihar, were also reviewed to enhance regional connectivity and reduce travel times.
The Jaipur Metro Phase 2 project, a 42.8 km North-South corridor with 36 stations, was discussed as part of efforts to strengthen urban transport and support Transit-Oriented Development. The meeting was chaired by Logistics, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Joint Secretary Pankaj Kumar.
