The government has refuted social media posts claiming that a new Union Territory is being created from Bihar and West Bengal near the Siliguri corridor.

The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau has termed these claims fake. It said that no such proposal is under consideration by the Government.

The government has also urged citizens to always rely on official sources for information and verify it before sharing.
