People’s movement against drug abuse reflects their determination and unity: LG Manoj Sinha

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today ignited the Drug-Free Jammu Kashmir Campaign in Doda, rallying citizens against narcotics. Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that addressing the gathering on the occasion, the LG said the people’s movement against drug abuse reflects their determination and unity, and this menace can be eliminated when communities rise together and speak with one voice.

The LG said that narcotics smuggling is no less than terrorism, and those involved will be given stringent punishment. The LG said drug traffickers in Jammu and Kashmir will be treated under the law the same way terrorists are. He also stated that every drug smuggler, every local peddler, every member of a drug syndicate working to destroy society will be identified and put behind bars. In his address, the Lieutenant Governor also underscored the importance of Jan-Bhagidari and said that this fight cannot rest on government machinery alone, and society must actively participate. The LG also highlighted that with public support, in just the last 20 days, around 350 FIRs were registered and 440 drug traffickers were arrested. He also called upon schools, colleges, social organisations, and the media to join this campaign
