The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industries visited Amritsar in Punjab yesterday to gather first-hand information on industrial development, current challenges, and future prospects in the state.
During the day-long visit, the Chairperson of the Committee, Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi Siva, also obtained detailed information on the present situation of industries and issues they are facing, from various industrialists who met the delegation.
The Committee assured that the suggestions received to strengthen the industrial sector in Punjab, including Amritsar, would be incorporated into a report. The Committee stated that industrial development would create new employment opportunities and further boost the region’s economy.
Punjab’s Principal Secretary for Industries and Commerce, KK Yadav, told the delegation that the state government is providing all kinds of facilities for the growth of the industry. Before leaving for New Delhi today, the delegation paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple).
