Pamban Rail Bridge: Committee formed to examine reports of Commissioner of Railway Safety

The Railway Ministry has formed a committee to examine the reports of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Circle in connection with the Pamban rail Bridge in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The five members of the technical committee will be headed by Principal Executive Director (Bridge), Railway Board Ravindra Kumar Goel. The committee will submit its report in 45 days.

 

The Ministry said that international standards have been adopted in the construction of the Pamban Bridge as this is a unique bridge. Around two kilometre long bridge is designed with European and Indian Codes. The design of this bridge was proof-checked by IIT, Chennai and it has been approved by Southern Railway. The Ministry said, the bridge has been constructed with state of Art design and the best construction practices.
