In Pakistan, seven people were forcibly disappeared from Balochistan province. The Balochistan Post reported that Pakistani forces allegedly detained a young nursing student, Mehran Baloch, on January 15 and moved him to an undisclosed location. His family said no official reason was provided for his detention. In a separate incident in Baloch Abad, a person was reportedly detained during a raid, along with his vehicle. Local sources also said that three young men were allegedly forcibly disappeared during security operations in Kharan. Two other persons were reportedly detained from Quetta after raids in the Killi Qambrani area. Meanwhile, a leading human rights organisation rejected the Balochistan provincial government’s claim that the issue of missing persons has been permanently resolved, calling the statement false and inconsistent with the situation on the ground.
