Protests, rallies, demonstrations, and street theatre were held across parts of Sindh in Pakistan to highlight the injustice faced by women under the ‘karo-kari’ custom, called honour killings and to demand strict action against perpetrators. The demonstrations were organised by the rights group Civil Society for Truth, Peace and Justice. In Hyderabad province of Pakistan, participants gathered at the local press club for a protest rally.
The mobilisation followed the alleged honour killings of Khalida Chandio and Shumaila Chandio, as well as the reported suicide of medical student Fahmida Laghari. Protesters called for justice for all victims of honour-based violence. In Larkana, journalists, writers, and civil society activists marched from the press club to Jinnah Bagh Chowk to held a demonstration.
