Over five lakh examinees sit down to appear in Secondary Education Examination across Nepal

More than five lakh examinees sat down on Thursday to appear in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) across Nepal. This is the equivalent of India. The answer sheet testing is also starting on Thursday itself. The results are set to be published by the end of April. There are 257,613 female students, 254,811 male students and 7 other candidates. 1,966 examination centers have been designated. 73,500 human resources, including center heads, assistant center heads, invigilators, assistants and security personnel are mobilized for the exam. The NEB also confirmed that at least 12,500 police personnel have been deployed across the country to ensure the examinations are conducted in a safe environment. The answer sheet will be tested at the examination center itself, or, if necessary, answer sheets may be transferred to a safer place for evaluation.

Newly appointed Education Minister Sashmit Pokharel had instructed NEB officials to evaluate the SEE answer sheets at the exam centres themselves and make the results public within a month. This direction by the ministry has changed the entire exam model, including the evaluation format, in this academic year. Education Secretary Chudamani Poudel informed that the National Examination Board (NEB) has decided to make arrangements to test the answer sheets of the subjects for which the exam is completed at the examination center within three days. This will allow quick assessment and timely declaration of results. Earlier, the result was expected to be published within 90 days, in the first week of July.
