Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary today said that more than 80 percent of rural households have received tap water connections by the mid of this year under the Har Ghar Jal initiative. Addressing the concluding day of India Water Leadership Conclave 2025 in New Delhi, the Minister informed that cities like Indore and Surat have emerged as national models for water reuse, with upgraded pipelines and digital metering ensuring efficient distribution.

 

He added that India’s water management strategy is now closely aligned with the country’s climate goals. Mr Chaudhary also said that the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change has supported conservation projects in vulnerable regions, while water sediment management and afforestation act as buffers against climate shocks.
