Over 5 lakh 5G base transceiver stations installed across country till date

The Government has said that more than five lakh 5G base transceiver stations have been installed across the country till date. Communication Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha. Mr Scindia said the rural connectivity has improved under the BharatNet project. He said, as of October this year, 2.14 lakh Gram Panchayats are service-ready for broadband connectivity, and 13.66 lakh fibre to the home connections have been provided throughout the country under this project. The Minister said that the Government has taken a number of steps using Digital Bharat Nidhi to bridge the digital divide in remote and border areas. Mr Scindia said that the BharatNet project is providing broadband connectivity in Gram Panchayats, border and Left Wing Extremism-affected areas.
