Maharashtra’s Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane said that nearly 17.85 lakh hectares of farmland have been hit, with kharif crops suffering the most. Elaborating on the heavy rainfall and flood situation, he said heavy rainfall in August and September has caused extensive damage to agriculture across Maharashtra, affecting 30 districts and 195 talukas.
He further said that soybean, maize, cotton, urad, tur, and moong are the worst-affected crops. At the same time, vegetables, fruits, bajra, sugarcane, onion, jowar, and turmeric have also sustained losses in several regions. Minister Bharane stated that crop loss assessments have been completed in some districts and compensation has already been distributed.
