Over 16 lakh 14 thousand electric vehicles have been supported by the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, FAME II scheme, till the end of last year. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma informed that the FAME-II scheme has been implemented across the country, covering urban and rural areas to promote electric mobility and reduce pollution.
In another written reply, the minister said 10 thousand 900 crore rupees have been allocated under PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM e-DRIVE), and the scheme will be implemented for two years till March 2026. Under the scheme, electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, e-trucks, emerging electric vehicles, e-buses, e-ambulances, and EV public charging stations will get support.
