Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that there will be no nuclear agreement if the United States continues to demand an end to Iran’s uranium enrichment. His remarks came ahead of the fifth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iranian and US delegations, scheduled to take place in Rome today. Responding to recent US demands that Tehran completely halt uranium enrichment, Araghchi said the US does not support any enrichment activity in Iran. He said that if this is Washington’s objective, then no agreement will be possible. However, he added that if the US is seeking to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, that goal can be achieved. He reiterated that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons. Four rounds of talks have already taken place since April, three in Muscat and one in Rome.
