Om Prakash Aryal took the oath as the Minister of Home Affairs and Law in Nepal. He had gained popularity after filing a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki as the chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). He had also challenged the appointment of Khilraj Regmi as the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers then. The landmark verdict of the Supreme Court came in January 2017.
He has been actively fighting legal battles on various issues of public interest and also serves as the legal advisor to the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balan Shah. Aryal was also involved in discussions with President Ram Chandra Paudel regarding the appointment of Karki as the head of the interim government.
