Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has stressed that swadeshi thinking is the essence of a self-reliant India, and every citizen should embrace it as part of their everyday life. Mr Birla observed that fasting, yoga, meditation, and Swadeshi principles are powerful practices that bring restraint, balance, and inner strength to life. Mr Birla was addressing the International Janmangal Conference in New Delhi today.
The event was jointly organized by the Antarmana Religious Trust and Patanjali Yogpeeth, drawing together spiritual leaders, scholars, and yoga practitioners. Birla also pledged to observe a fast one day every month, emphasizing that fasting is not merely a religious act but a means of building strong willpower and self-discipline. He said that morality, discipline, and self-control form the essential foundation of strong individuals and a strong society. Praising the tradition of austerity, non-possessiveness, and renunciation, he said these values guide individuals toward inner peace and greater social responsibility.
