The model code of conduct has come into effect in the Nuapada Assembly constituency in Odisha from today with the announcement of a bye-election on 11th of next month.
Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha RS Gopalan told media persons at Bhubaneswar that all the 358 polling booths will have real-time webcasting facilities to ensure transparency.
Notification for the bye-election will be issued on 13th, while the deadline for filing nominations is 20th of this month. Scrutiny of papers will be conducted on 22nd and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is 24th of this month. The counting of votes for the bye-election will be held on 14th of next month.
The bye-election was necessitated due to the death of sitting Biju Janata Dal MLA Rajendra Dholakia, a former minister and four-time legislator from Nuapada.
