Odisha Battles Cyclone Montha; Relief Operations in Full Swing

In Odisha, Cyclone Montha has affected 33 blocks and 11 urban areas across the state. The state government has set up 362 free kitchens, where cooked food is being provided to 18,762 people taking shelter in cyclone centres. It has also decided to assess damages to houses, roads, and other public infrastructure caused by Cyclone Montha from tomorrow.

Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari today told media persons at Bhubaneswar that once the full report is received, the government will provide compensation to the affected families. He said all departments concerned are actively engaged in restoring normalcy and extending necessary assistance to the cyclone-hit people.

Meanwhile, incessant rainfall triggered by Cyclone Montha has caused massive landslides in Gajapati district, disrupting road connectivity between Gajapati and Ganjam districts of Odisha. Restoration work in assistance with the National Disaster Response Force is on to bring back normalcy in the affected places.
