Notification for first phase of Bihar Assembly elections to be issued tomorrow

The notification for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections will be issued tomorrow. With the issuance of notification, process of filing nominations will also begin. In the first phase, polling will be held for 121 seats. Political activities across the state have intensified.
No decision could be reached today regarding the seat-sharing arrangement in the ruling NDA and the opposition Grand Alliance.BJP State President Dr. Dilip Jaiswal said that a final decision will be taken within the next one or two days. He stated that there is no major disagreement with Chirag Paswan led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). The Lok Janshakti Party has authorized its National President, Chirag Paswan, to take all decisions on issues related to the NDA.The top leadership of the Janata Dal (United) also held discussions today on seat-sharing.A crucial meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s residence under the chairmanship of the party’s National President and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.Meanwhile, in the Grand Alliance, Congress leadership has indicated that it is in talks with Rashtriya Janata Dal President and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad to resolve disputes arising over seat-sharing.
       As the Assembly elections draw closer, political parties have begun making populist promises.RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said today that unemployment is the biggest issue in Bihar. He asserted that if his party forms the government, one member of every family with no government employee will be provided a government job. He also said that legal provisions will be made to ensure this. On the other hand, the Congress has alleged that development has come to a standstill during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s 20-year tenure. Meanwhile, JD(U) Working National President Sanjay Jha said that the people of Bihar are well aware of the poor governance track record by the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal in the past. BJP senior leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the people of the state now know that Bihar’s true development is possible only under the leadership of the NDA.
