Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that the Northeast has become the growth engine of the country. Addressing the media on the one-year achievement of his Ministry in New Delhi today, Mr. Scindia said that over the past 11 years, the government has worked to showcase the North East region’s potential on the global stage. He said the number of Airports in the North East has increased to 17 from just nine airports in the last eleven years. Mr Scindia also highlighted that the National Highways in the North East states have increased from ten thousand kilometres to 16 thousand kilometres.
The Minister highlighted that several initiatives were taken to unlock the investment and growth potential of the North East region. Mr Scindia said that a four lakh 48 thousand crore rupees investment commitment was secured during the Rising North East summit held in May this year. He said that under the Ashtalakshmi Darshan program, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, three thousand 200 students from across the country will visit the North East for cultural immersion.
