In West Bengal, the nomination process for the first phase of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state began today. The process of filing nominations will continue till 6th April. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on the following day. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 9th April. In this phase, voting will take place on 23 April across 152 constituencies
 
In the second phase, elections will be held in 142 constituencies on  29th April. The notification for this phase will be issued on 2nd April. The counting of votes will take place on 4th May. 
 
Among the prominent candidates, opposition leader in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, filed his nomination today from the Nandigram constituency of Purba Medinipur district. He was accompanied by the Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and former state BJP president Dilip Ghosh, along with other senior party leaders.
 
After filing his nomination, Suvendu Adhikari expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.
