No shortage of essential fuels, adequate stocks of petrol and diesel available: Government

The government has reassured that there is no shortage of essential fuels across the country, with oil refineries operating at high capacity and adequate stocks of petrol and diesel available. No shortages have been reported at retail outlets.

In a statement, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said delivery of domestic LPG cylinders remains normal, and panic bookings have declined. It added that the government has increased commercial LPG allocation to states, with priority given to key sectors, including educational institutions and hospitals, and is promoting the expansion of PNG connections.

States have also been advised to facilitate new PNG connections for domestic and commercial consumers. The ministry said raids are ongoing across states and Union Territories to curb LPG hoarding and black marketing.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said it is closely monitoring shipping movements, port operations and the safety of Indian seafarers to ensure continuity of maritime trade. It noted that over 547 Indian seafarers have been safely repatriated, including 13 in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of External Affairs said it is closely tracking developments in the Gulf and West Asia region, with a focus on the safety and welfare of Indian nationals. Around 90 flights are expected to operate today from the UAE, while services from Saudi Arabia and Oman continue.

With the partial reopening of airspace, Qatar Airways is expected to operate 9 to 10 non-scheduled flights to India today. The ministry added that a 24×7 control room remains operational, coordinating with states and Union Territories. Since the 28th of February, over 3.5 lakh passengers have returned to India from the region.
