NMEO supports palm oil cultivators with piglet distribution in Tripura

Under the sponsorship of the National Mission on Edible Oils (NMEO) of the Government of India, piglets were distributed today among palm oil cultivators at Kailashahar of Tripura. The programme was organised by the State Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, under which three-month-old piglets weighing between 10 and 12 kilograms were distributed free of cost to 50 beneficiaries.

On this occasion, a function was held at Chinibagan in Deorachhara ADC Village, Kailashahar. The programme was formally inaugurated by Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati, Amalendu Das.

In his address, he stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is putting special emphasis on oil palm cultivation. He stressed the need to promote oil palm farming to reduce the country’s dependence on imported edible oils. He further said that the distribution of piglets aims to support the economic self-reliance of oil palm farmers.

During the programme, ten farmers were also presented with cheque awards in recognition of their success in paddy and vegetable cultivation.
