Nine Maoists surrender in Chhattisgarh, including seven women cadres

In Chhattisgarh, nine Maoists surrendered in Dhamtari district today. The surrendered Maoists include seven women cadres. A total reward of forty-seven lakh rupees had been announced for all of them. The Maoists surrendered before the Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, Amresh Mishra, and the Superintendent of Police of Dhamtari district, Suraj Singh Parihar. During the surrender, they also handed over several weapons, including two INSAS rifles, two SLRs, a carbine and a gun, besides other arms.

According to the police, the Maoists were active in the Sitanadi area of the state as well as in Nagri, Mainpur and Gobra regions. They are accused of involvement in several incidents.
