Nine Maoists, including senior leader C Narayana Rao, surrendered before the Andhra Pradesh police today, marking a significant development in the state’s anti-insurgency efforts. Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta said the surrenders reflect the near-complete decline of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the state. Police said the latest surrender followed appeals to Maoists to lay down arms and join mainstream society. Authorities claim there is now no active Maoist cadre presence in Andhra Pradesh.
