Nine dead and nine injured after roofs collapse in Afghanistan floods

In Afghanistan, nine people were killed and nine others injured after the roofs of several homes collapsed in the eastern region due to heavy rains and flooding that have swept across multiple parts of the country.
Officials in Nangarhar province reported that six people died when the roofs of three houses collapsed in the districts of Pachiragam, Khogyani, and Spin Ghar following intense rainfall. Seven others, including children, were injured in these incidents.

Meanwhile, a Taliban police spokesperson stated that a woman and two children were killed in Maidan Wardak province after a house roof collapsed in Jaghato district during heavy rain overnight. Two more people were injured in the same incident.

These latest casualties come as floods continue to devastate several provinces across Afghanistan, severely damaging roads, farmland, and residential areas over the past 10 days.

Earlier, disaster management officials reported that at least 99 people had been killed and 154 injured in rain-related incidents and flooding nationwide. Thousands of families have also lost their homes, crops, and access to essential services.

Aid organizations and meteorological authorities have warned that more rainfall is expected in the coming days, increasing the risk of further flash floods, landslides, and structural collapses.
