Nigeria confirms rescue of 100 abducted children from Niger State school

Nigerian authorities have confirmed the rescue of 100 children abducted last month from a School in Niger State. The group arrived in Abuja for a medical checkup and will soon be transferred to state officials before reuniting with their families.

The November 21 attack saw 303 students and 12 teachers kidnapped, with about 50 escaping early on. However, with the latest release, 153 students and all 12 teachers remain in captivity. The development follows the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in neighbouring Kebbi State, reflecting a resurgence in mass kidnappings not seen since the 2014 Chibok incident.
