The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two Haryana residents for their alleged involvement in a human trafficking racket that sent people to the US via the “Dunki route”. According to the NIA, the accused were part of a transnational syndicate that lured Indian citizens with false promises of legal travel to the US, charging exorbitant fees for the illicit journey. NIA stated that one victim, was deported back to India after being apprehended by US authorities and had paid 42 lakhs rupees to the syndicate. The NIA is continuing its investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the conspiracy.
