The National Human Rights Commission-NHRC has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh state chief secretary and the Director General of Police for the alleged death of a patient at the Kanpur Medical College. The commission has asked for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks. In a statement, NHRC has said that it has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report which showed that mismanagement of the hospital and the police resulted in the death of a patient at the Medical College.
