Newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dol Prasad Aryal, has assumed the office at the Singh Durbar-based Federal Parliament Secretariat. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy before President Ramchandra Paudel. Dol Prasad Aryal, Vice Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who has been unanimously elected as the tenth Speaker of the House of Representatives in Nepal. 52-year-old Aryal was born in Dhading and was elected as a member of the HoR from Kathmandu constituency no. 9 in the March 5 general elections. Earlier he served as the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security in the interim government. He is the founding vice-president of the RSP.
As the Speaker of the lower House of Parliament, Aryal’s duty would be to conduct the parliament in a balanced manner, ensuring active participation of MPs and enforcing compliance with rules while making laws and monitoring government activities. He is expected to make impartial decisions, rising above party pressure and personal political interests.
