The Army Hospital has achieved a global milestone in minimally invasive Glaucoma Surgery with aqueous angiography in New Delhi. The Ministry of Defence informed that the pioneering procedure was carried out yesterday using advanced surgical instrumentation and real-time imaging with the Heidelberg Retina Angiograph to visualise aqueous outflow pathways during the operation.
The innovative technique enables surgeons to precisely place the implant within Schlemm’s canal, which improves aqueous drainage and enhances surgical outcomes for patients suffering from Glaucoma. The achievement marks a significant global advancement in precision Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery and reflects the growing adoption of cutting-edge ophthalmic technologies in the Armed Forces Medical Services.
