Collection of preliminary details of loss and damage incurred in the Federal Ministers’ Quarters along with the quarters of the provincial chief and chief minister in Lalitpur during the Gen-Z protests has begun. Just a month back, ministers had moved into the new residences before being burnt by protestors. A total of 27 well-equipped buildings constructed on approximately 52,29,118 ( fifty two lakh twenty nine thousand one hundred eighteen sq ft) land in Bhainsepati for federal ministers, chairperson and vice-chairperson of the National Assembly, and deputy speaker of the House of Representatives were completely torched and vandalised. Similarly, the contact offices constructed for the province heads and chief ministers of all seven provinces in an area of approximately 1.52,000 sq ft (one lakh fifty thousand sq ft ) land were also damaged during unrest.
Currently, the Nepal Army has provided security to the federal ministers’ quarters and the provincial contact office located in Bhainsepati. The federal secretariat has informed that maintenance and other work will not move forward until the damage assessment report is received, which will take at least one week of time.
