Reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra has officially booked his place in the 2025 Diamond League Final, set to be held in Zurich, Switzerland, on 27 and 28 of this month.
Despite skipping the recent Silesia leg, Chopra’s earlier performances this season were strong enough to guarantee his qualification. With 15 points from just two appearances, he joins the list of top contenders in the men’s javelin throw final, as per the latest standings released after the Silesia leg on Saturday.
Chopra claimed victory in the Paris leg with a throw of 88.16m and set a new national record of 90.23m in Doha, where he finished second behind Germany’s Julian Weber. Both Chopra and Weber currently have 15 points each, trailing behind Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott, who tops the standings with 17 points from three events.
Meanwhile, Other prominent athletes such as Anderson Peters and Luiz Mauricio Da Silva are also on track to qualify for the final. Chopra previously won the Diamond League title in 2022 and secured runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2024. However, he is yet to confirm his participation in the Zurich Diamond League Final.
