In Gujarat, nearly 67.25 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the by-elections for the Vav assembly seat in Banaskantha district until 5 PM today. A total of 10 candidates were in the fray during the by-election, in which a tripartite contest was held between BJP leader Swarupji Thakor, Congress leader Gulab Singh Rajput, and independent candidate Mavji Patel. The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Congress MLA Geni Ben Thakor after she won the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat.
