In West Bengal’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, out of nearly 60 lakhs names under review, about 32 lakhs have already been resolved. According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, around 40% among those names have been deleted. On Monday, the first supplementary list was published, which included about 10 lakhs voters. By that time, nearly 29 lakhs cases had been resolved. Only the names approved through the e-sign process were published in that list.
The next supplementary list is scheduled to be released on Friday. The office of the Chief Electoral Officer has applied to the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to publish lists daily. However, the court has stated that the matter will be considered after March 27.
