In Tamil Nadu, a 25 NDRF personnel team was sent to Ooty, Nilgiris district as there has been continuous downpour in the Western ghats. In Nilgiris, 283 places have been considered a dangerous zone for landslides.

As extremely heavy rains are bound to continue for another 24 hours in these places, 42 teams have been set up by the State Government to monitor the situation and move the people to safer places. As water flow to Vaigai Dam has increased to 69 feet, an alert has been issued to people living in low lying areas to move to safer places.
