The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) Chairman Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said the Kerala government has been instructed to respond within 15 days to allegations that it has been granting OBC reservations based on religion.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi yesterday, the NCBC Chairman claimed that the Kerala government is extending reservations to certain religious communities for political benefits, which violates the principles of a fair reservation policy. He further stated that the Commission aims to ensure that reservation benefits reach only genuinely backward communities. He said, the Commission has demanded a written clarification from the Kerala Government.
