NCB Guwahati Dismantles International Drug Network Across Myanmar, Manipur, Assam

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Guwahati Zonal Unit, has dismantled an international drug trafficking network operating across Myanmar-Manipur-Assam. Acting on specific intelligence, NCB officers tracked an illicit drug consignment being ferried through dense forest routes in Manipur and transported via small motorboats along the Barak River to evade conventional security checks. Yesterday, NCB intercepted the motorboat on the Barak River near Silchar and apprehended two individuals. In a statement, the Agency added that a thorough search led to the recovery of over six kilograms of high-grade heroin, concealed inside 530 soap cases, skillfully hidden beneath bamboo layers. The seized narcotics are valued at approximately 12.5 crore rupees in the illicit market. This successful operation was conducted jointly with the CRPF and with vital support from the Silchar Police.
