The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has realised an amount of 2.40 crore rupees under the Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) framework in the last 45 days. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change informed that the amount was received for carrying out activities relating to research and commercial use of biological resources, from entities belonging to the seed, animal feed and cosmetic sectors. It added that under this framework, benefits will be shared with concerned institutes, local communities, farmers, Biodiversity Management Committees and others. The Ministry further said that this system will support livelihood enhancement along with the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity at the grassroots level.
