National Cooperative Sugar Federation seeks government intervention amid falling sugar prices

The sugar industry is facing financial stress due to a decline in sugar prices, prompting the National Cooperative Sugar Federation to seek urgent government intervention. The Federation has demanded that the minimum selling price (MSP) of sugar be fixed at 41 rupees per kilogram and that the ethanol procurement price be increased to support sugar mills.

A representation in this regard has been submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, and Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi.
National Cooperative Sugar Federation President Harshvardhan Patil said that a Federation delegation will soon meet Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to discuss the issue and press for immediate relief measures for the sugar industry.
